PEARSON ~ Laurence Pearson of Lloydminster, AB passed away on January 10, 2015 at the age of 78 years.
Laurence leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Marilyn; son, Daryl (Andrea) Pearson; daughter, Stacey (Arron) Kohlman; grandchildren: Aiden, Avery, Evan and Ryann; sisters: Donna (Lawrence) Schmidt, Dorene Widdis; sister-in-law, Janet Shimek and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Sven and Minnie; sister, Evelyn; brother, Stanley; and brothers-in-law, Herman, Wib and Jim.
Most of Laurence's teaching career of 37 years was spent in Yorkton Public and Yorkton Regional Boards in Yorkton, SK. Laurence taught three years at Baden Soellingen, Germany teaching at the Canadian Armed Forces Senior School, a career highlight for our family, as we were able to explore Europe and the U.K.
Laurence's interests were varied. He was a great problem solver whether it was designing an industrial lab, video production or theatre arts program. He was always interested in trying something new, especially if it was technical or electronic and was a life long learner. Laurence was involved in a variety of professional roles within the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation. He spent many years involved with the Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival. Upon retirement he served on the Parkland College Board.
When Laurence and Marilyn moved to Lloydminster in 2000, Laurence continued being involved in different organizations. Over the years, he enjoyed skiing, curling, golfing, canoeing, photography, travelling and time spent at the cabin with family and lake friends.
Laurence was very proud of his children and especially his grandchildren. Spending time with them all was very important. We can say Laurence had a full life and we will miss him dearly.
The Memorial Service for Laurence was conducted from McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, AB on January 17, 2015 with Reverend Don Retzlaff officiating. Stacey Kohlman and Daryl Pearson gave the eulogy. The hymns were accompanied by Frances Wright. The Urn Bearers was Daryl Pearson.
