Irene was my auntie and my godmother and no matter how many times we moved she always sent me a birthday present and a Christmas present, and I felt very special knowing there was someone out there thinking of me. She did so much for my family, more than I'll probably ever know; and I think she was probably like that for her church and community. She was a strong and capable woman with a big heart and a great sense of humour, and a huge pride in her children and grandchildren. She will be very missed.
