Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Irene Morrell (Ulrich) Born October 25, 1931, died October 10th, 2010. Irene was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan, lived her early life in Denzil, Saskatchewan, and then moved to Lloydminster, where she lived for the rest of her life. She is survived by her husband Hugh Morrell, her son Murray (Wendy) Morrell, granddaughters Leah and Allison, her son Barry (Cathy) Morrell, grandsons Brian and Mark, her daughter Colleen (Wes) Henning, granddaughter Caroline Holtz and grandson Robin Holtz, and son Ken (Toni) Morrell and grandson Riley Morrell and granddaughter Breana. She is also survived by her great-grandson Carter Lamb. She is also survived by sisters Lorraine O'Connor and Maria De'Neve and brother Lawrence Ulrich. She is also survived by in-laws Dick Morrell, Lynn Morrell, Kathy Morrell and Marlien Morrell. She was predeceased by her parents Katherine and Nick Ulrich, an infant son Brian Morrell, sisters Evelyn Cullen, Marjorie Boulton, Deanna Skidnuk and Doris Ulrich, and brother-in-law Jack Morrell. Irene and Hugh met at the Catholic Youth Organization. That fall the CYO were building a Christmas scene. Irene and some others did the drawing and painting. Hugh and the other non-artistic people did the carrying and the cutting. Irene and Hugh dated and then decided to get married. This wedding took place on July 2, 1956. Irene was very busy at home. She sewed dresses, curtains, and costumes for Halloween for many years. She did crafts. She did much baking and hosted many family dinners with twenty to thirty guests. In Irene's final days, when Grandma Colleen held little Carter so Irene could talk to him, Carter responded with a big grin and a little giggle. In the many years before that, Irene cared for her own children and her grandchildren but she cared for countless other youngsters as well. For all her life, children were her delight. We know Irene's endurance through long- time struggles with arthritis and cancer. We know her love of family. We know her care for all. Now, we mourn her passing and celebrate her life. We would like to thank Father Jan, the musicians Marlene Risling, Donna Weston and Mel Risling, the Honor Guard from the C.W.L., and those at the Knox Presbyterian Church who provided the lunch. We would like to thank McCaw Funeral Service. The funeral was done in a very professional manner while still allowing us to put our personal wishes into the service. Donations in memory of Irene may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
