Obituary of William "Will" Wolanuk
William “Will” John Wolanuk was born on June 4, 1945 in Elk Point, and passed away after a battle with cancer on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Lloydminster Hospital at the age of 74.
Willie was predeceased by: his beautiful wife, Ellie on July 30, 2014; his father, John Wolaniuk; and his older brother Steve Wolanuk.
Willie is survived by: his children, Brian Wolanuk (Nim), Bonnie (Ron) Willis, Preston Wolanuk and Michelle (Kent) Hamilton; his 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Serena, Brennan, Cassie (David), Lindsay (Andrew), Ethan, Mya, Jenna (Kelly), Jayden, Cale and Queency; his great grandchildren, Madison, Hudson, Kai and Haven; his mother, Ann Wolaniuk, his brother, Ray (Barbara) Wolanuk; many sisters and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Willie was an extremely hard working and dedicated man. He started young in the auto parts industry, opening Wilter Automotive in Vegreville and growing it to a small chain of parts stores in this region. Several other business ventures and many moves happened before they found roots in Lloydminster in 1983. The most recent venture was Bar 5 which Will and Ellie bought in 1998 and enjoyed running for 12 years together. They made some great friends with patrons and staff. Although it was rare, if Willie wasnʼt working, he could be found watching the Edmonton Eskimos or the Edmonton Oilers, or puttering around his cottage at Turtle Lake Lodge, his home away from home for more than 30 years.
The Memorial Service in memory of Will is to be conducted from the Centennial Civic Centre, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his name to Haying in the 30’s.
