Darren, Tracy, and Sharla - Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I know you will miss him a lot. I hope you think back to all the good times you had with both your Mom and Dad and re-tell the stories to each other.. When I think back to the times I visited your farm I remember mostly the laughter, good food, and always something crazy going on. Never a dull moment at the King's!
Your parents were extra kind to Gord and I when we were living is Saskatoon. When I needed to get away from the city I was always welcomed in your home where I was able to re-connect with family, horses, dogs and open spaces. On one of my visits I took your Dad to a Quarter Horse auction. I was interested in one of the horses going for sale, but before it come up, Uncle Ed starting bidding on a very lovely dun mare.. He ended up buying her and then somehow convinced me to take her back to Saskatoon.
Your Dad is going to be missed by an awful lot of people. He was a honest, down to earth kind of guy. He lived a good life.

THE CIGAR STORY
I want to tell a little story that Darren told me about Ed, who is my brother.
When we lived on the farm we had a china cabinet I inherited from Gramma King in 1941.
When I moved to BC the cabinet came with me.
Darren said that when we lived on the farm my Dad kept cigars in the cabinet. Grant and Ed would check the supply of cigars, if a good supply then they would each take a cigar and go out behind a shed for a smoke. If the supply was low they wouldn't take any, as Dad might notice.
Two years ago Darren brought Ed to visit me. Ed walked over to the cabinet and asked if he could open the drawer. He opened the drawer and stood silent, many memories filling his mind. He then sat down and we continued our reminiscing about our very happy days growing up.
P.S. Near the end of the Galley of pictures on Ed, you can see Ed and I standing by the cabinet.

Darren, Sharla and Tracy,
I am so sorry to read about the loss of your Dad as well as your mom. I knew your mother better as she used to come to your class, once a week Darren, and help with various activities that needed doing. It was wonderful to have her help as she was always cheerful and the Grade 2's loved her. Your Dad I didn't know so well but he always seemed happy when he came at interview time. They were good people!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you,
Mrs. Lukey

Darren, Sharla, and Tracy,
I was so saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. Memories come flooding back of countless great times spent at your parents home. My son, Flynn, especially remembers practically living at your place, Darren, all through elementary school. The hospitality was beyond words. Flynn remembers countless fishing, and camping trips with your dad as well as breakfasts at McDonalds and even flying you both out to Vancouver for a Rolling Stones concert!!
Take solace in the fact that he is now reunited with your beautiful Mother. With deepest sympathy

Ed King.... he took a chance on us 50 years ago and extended our new company credit! He had faith in L&L being viable. Thank you. Then we spent a few years in the snow watching and cheering on our kids in Alpine Ski races. He bought so many coffees!
Our sympathy to his family and know so many care for such a great man. Rest easy now, job well done.
