A sad day for sure at the loss of Ab. He was a positive force who energized every room he walked into with his infectious laugh.
Wherever he went he made friends. A great motivator of people he was very much responsible for the success of Nelson Lumber.
Once an employer of mine, he turned out to be a good friend. He will be missed.

Virginia and family..
It was truly an honour to be invited to attend Ab’s memorial service. I was one of the fortunate ones to be hired by Ab in 1975 to work for Nelson Homes in Grande Prairie. He convinced me to leave what I thought was a promising career on a promise that if I worked hard I could have a successful and rewarding career. To do that I needed to move my family 800 miles away from family and friends. What an opportunity it turned out to be. Six years later he asked me to again move my family to Lloydminster and become part of the management team. Over the last few days I have been calling former salesman from across Western Canada to advise them of Ab’s passing. They wanted me to pass on their condolences to your family. Ab was a wonderful mentor to all who were fortunate to work for him. We all learned the value of hard work and the value of selling an exceptional product.
We were so fortunate to have him in our lives. Rest In Peace..

I was saddened to learn of the death of Ab Truss.
I first met Ab in 1954 when he hired me as an after-school worker at Nelson Lumber.
I have always harboured a deep appreciation for Ab's confidence in me as a young person when he promoted me as the first area sales rep for Nelson Manufactured homes in 1958.
Ab was always very understanding. And kind to me.
I'm sure he will forever be loved and missed by his loved ones.
My sincere condolences to the Truss family.
