My deepest condolences to the Pittao family. I met Arnie at the Lloydminster Ministerial meetings. He was always warm and welcoming!
Later, he gave me a giant, 8' long slide rule that he had used in his math classes. We have just recently mounted it on the wall in our offices at BAR Engineering.

Dearest Lydia,
Sorry to have only recently heard of Arnie's passing through my sister, Margit. Deepest sympathy to you and all your family.
Arnie's interest in roses and subsequent association with our Dad, Walter Schowalter, led to solid friendships and connections with our family. We are so grateful for the biography he wrote. A large piece of treasured family history.
I certainly enjoyed meeting you both on various occasions and can feature Arnie's twinkling eyes and deep interest in all things horticulture. His photos were outstanding and writing in depth. I still use his book on roses in Saskatchewan as a reference.
Warmest thoughts and condolences. God bless,
Mary Davis

Lydia, Calvin, Carmen and Cameron. We were just made aware of Arnie's passing and feel sad we didn't attend his service to share your grief. Arnie was dedicated to God, his family and all growing things. We know best his horticultural achievements and miss his expertise in all things rose related. His volunteer activities with the Alberta Horticultural Association and the Saskatchewan Rose Society, were given freely and done well. Our sincerest condolences on his passing.

Arnie was a friend and father figure to at least a couple generations of students at Lloyd's public high school. He was a real renaissance man with many varied hobbies and interests, but he somehow always found time for the endless stream of wayward teens that were part of his extended family. Much love to his many friends, and especially to his family. I love you guys!

Sorry to hear Arnie passed away. I worked with him on the "Down to Earth" TV series recorded at CKSA/CITL TV through a number of years. Later his work with Borderscapes brought him notice. Enclosed is a link to one of the Borderscape stories. Another can be found on the Lloydminster Archives site. http://67.69.117.195/cksa/video2/304/61.mp4.

To the Pittao Family, I offer my sincere condolences on the death of your husband, father, and grandfather. I did not know Mr. Pittao well but I do know that when my son Blake was a teenager and playing in his bands at the Lloydminster Comp, Mr. Pittao was so supportive with the sound systems and everything else to encourage those young teenagers to pursue music. Thank you, because I don’t think I ever said thank you. Rest in peace, my good man.
