I will never forget how special "Mr. Bill" was to me. Every Sunday my family came in for lunch to Greek Classic and I always had a special request: scrambled eggs & rice (weird I know!)....the server would often give me a weird look and I'd say "Don't worry Bill will know who it's for!" and without fail it came out perfectly every time! Still the best rice I have ever had :) You will be missed.

Heartfelt sympathies to you Debbie and your family. Our family has many very special memories of both you and Bill from time spent in the restaurant and we will always remember how kind and welcoming you were with children. Everyone was like family there. Carter will never forget Bill taking him on a kitchen tour and letting him pick out his favorite cake (chocolate cake with the chocolate “wheel” on top). When asked “What do you want for your birthday supper?” The answer was always “Can we go to Mr Bill’s?”Absolutely!
We will remember Bill with a smile.
Thank you both for the great memories.

Thinking of you at this time of sadness. You have been through so much and stood by your husband and family through it all. You are an example of a true wife, mother and grandmother. And we remember Bill sharing his delicious food, his humor, his hospitality every time we came to his restaurant. I watched the funeral online and was so touched by the words that were spoken, too see all your grandchildren sharing was heart warming. You have a beautiful family. I met Billy, Spiro and Jimmy when I worked at Ranchero She’ll and their 3K Restaurant was just through the door. I would go in every morning and get my own coffee. They told me to just get my own because they were so busy. They treated me like family. Whenever I went out to eat I followed Bill to his different restaurants and Spiro to is. They are the very best part of this community, loyal, caring and loved by everyone. I’m so sorry for Bills family. He loved them so much. I will miss seeing the beautiful smile I got when I saw Bill.

I'm so sorry to hear that Mr. Bill has passed away. I have so many memories from my childhood that involve Bill's amazing cooking, whether it be from the old Alberta Hotel to the Greek Classic to Mr. Bill's. Debbie and Bill were a part of feeding me and taking care of me through my cancer journey and through our own heartbreak dealing with Dave's dementia and Parkinson's disease. I felt so blessed to be able to return some of the care when Bill went into the LCC sharing the same wing as Dave and I was able to spend some of my time there walking with Mr. Bill as well. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers, with much love and gratitude.

Bill was such a wonderful host and friend. It seems like yesterday Todd and I went to the Greek classic the night we got engaged. Having the infamous mushroom caps which is still one of the best foods to grace this earth mark my words. And even how many times the kids wanted Mr Bills when they were home sick. Kristen would always want his mashed potatoes. So I’d call and talk to bill and when I would stop to pick them up he would never let me pay for the sick day mashed potatoes. Just tell Kristen to feel better he would say. It was always the favourite place to go for family events. Grandpa Paul’s only request. Bill - you were a small town hero filling our plates and hearts. You are missed.

Bill was one of those rare pillars of any community. My family moved to Lloydminster when I was a young lad of 9 years old. My early memories were of the Shell Ranchero and Bill, Spiro and Jim working the kitchen. Best food in Lloyd. In later years they moved their business downtown beside then across the street from the May Theatre (which my father managed). I remember many an evening especially at 3K with my Dad and Bill. The Kokokonas men are synonymous with the community of Lloydminster. My deepest condolences to Deb, Jim, Maria and their families.

Dear Deb, Jim, Maria and families. We were sad to hear of Bills passing, but he is at peace now after a long battle. Bill has been a special friend since a way back to the late 60s or very early 70s when he came to Lloydminster with his two brothers Spiro and Jim. We remember all the great meals in the Ranchero Restaurant and at Mr Bills Restaurant. Bill enjoyed a great joke and told us many, some long after most patrons had left the restaurant. Bill was such a hard worker and great cook. The Kokonas brothers introduced Lloydminster to what a great meal should be. Bill as we knew him had been gone for awhile as he struggled with dementia. Charlotte and I send our sincere condolences to all the families.

Debbie and family,
My sincere condolences on the passing of Bill. So many memories are flooding back of my Dad, John Rekrutiak and Bill, Jim and Spiro joking and laughing at the Shell Ranchero in the ‘70’s. After we would close our store, Weaver Park Grocery, we would head over to the restaurant and have a visit. And most days my Dad would return for breakfast before opening the store. The Kokonas’ are a big part of my memories, as they are for many families in Lloydminster. After my Dad past in 1980, Bill and Spiro were so good to my Mom and myself always showing concern and caring. After I married and had children and eventually moved from Lloydminster, we would return and of course go to the Greek Classic and then Mr. Bill’s and say hi to Bill and Debbie and to Spiro’s to see Spiro and Tina. They always showed such interest in what was happening in my family life.
As hard as saying good bye is, it gives comfort in knowing Bill’s pain has ended. And…….I’m sure those guys up there are cracking their second or third bottle of Ouzo!
Thinking of you Debbie and family,
Sandie Bernard (Rekrutiak)

Art and I have many fond memories of eating, first The Greek Classic then at Mr. Bill's, it was our place to go for the "special" days. Many Xmas parties were spent laughing and eating at our special place.
Art knew Bill far longer than I did as he worked at the Shell gas station where the 3K first opened.
Bill and Deb always were so pleasant to see at the restaurant, he was missed when they had to sell due to his illness.
We wish all the Kokonas' our deepest condolences.
