BIOGRAPHY MCCONNELL ~ Edith Susan McConnell passed away peacefully at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Edith is survived by her two sons Tom, Alex (Jackie) and her two daughters Margaret Moore and Muriel (Bill) Stewart; twelve grandchildren and their spouses and twenty great grandchildren: her sister, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, special nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbours. Waiting for Edith in heaven is her husband Ed, her parents Tom and Margaret McMeckan, her two sisters Fern and Marjorie, and her two brothers Alex Wilson and William McMeckan, and her special son-in-law, Garry Moore. The funeral service was conducted from the Glaslyn Community Hall, Glaslyn, Saskatchewan on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Suzanne Edgar officiating. Family memories were read by Jackie McConnell. The hymns sung were "Amazing Grace", "Rock Of Ages" and "In The Garden" accompanied on the organ by Helen Pylypow. Scripture readings were read by Sharleen Mino. The honorary pallbearers were family, friends and neighbours who were a valued part of her life including the excellent staff at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre. The active pallbearers were Edith's grandchildren and family members. Interment took place in the Glaslyn Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS A special and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chan and the nurses and staff at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre for their excellent care of mom. To Reverend Suzanne Edgar for her compassionate service; to Sharleen Mino for her own kind and special way of reading the scriptures. To Helen Pylypow for playing the organ, to the choir - you all sang beautifully together. Thank you to Jackie for her descriptive eulogy, and to the pallbearers, the ladies of the United Church for lunch, for the cards, flowers and food brought to the house and all the very supportive phone calls and messages. A special thank you to Dave and staff at McCaw Funeral Service, Lloydminster for their kind and sensitive service for our Mom. She would have loved it. Again from Edith's family, a humble and grateful thank you. In appreciation of the excellent care given to Edith and the other residents at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Edith's family wishes in lieu of flowers and thank you cards, monetary donations are being given to this dedicated group of highly professional caregivers, "The Sunshine Staff Fund". (no receipts will be issued)
