Doug and I first met Margaret and Martin the first year they opened their Bed and Breakfast. Arriveing via our 2 motorcycles
It really was amazing how the 4 of us connected! We remained close friends all through the years. I remember one of the meals we had... Margaret was serving fried Codfish. Now my husband did not like fish, or so he thought until Margaret's skill as a cook changed his thinking!
I'm here to tell you Doug ate the biggest piece of fish, enjoying every mouthful ! I dont know who was more surprise me or Doug!
Thank you Margaret for opening that door! You were so very special to us, both of you. Lovingly Jean.

It has been a difficult couple weeks for many of us from the Harbour. Many houses have sat empty for the past few years but with the recent passing of Dad and Margaret, it somehow makes it seem more real that there is true loss. Structures are one thing but loss of our loved ones is a true lesson in passing of time and the cycle of life. Our memories of the centre of the Harbour being a hub of activity has certainly come to an end. My memories are mainly around when my boys were young and how close they were to Keith and Craig, almost like their brothers. That was also around the time that Mart and Margaret started the B and B, which was a first for our area. And what a standard she set! Her hospitality, along with her delicious meals and baked goods drew tourists from around the world. And that same friendliness wasn’t just extended to tourists, but to all of us that were walking through the harbour! Being in the middle always meant there was someone around to chat to!
She will always be fondly remembered and her cookbook will always hold a special place in my collection.

A couple of days after Marg’s funeral we went golfing out at Sandy Beach with Keith, Sharlee, Martin, Emma and Eve. This dragon fly landed on Craig’s hat on hole two and remained there for the entire hole. We all made the comment that Marg seemed to be with us so Craig looked up what a dragon fly visit means…not sure it was a coincidence ❤️

There are no words to describe how I'm feeling on my sister, Marg's passing. Marg was the second oldest of fourteen and oldest girl of the family and I was the youngest girl and second youngest. Even with our age difference we shared a special bond that I will treasure forever. From me being her flower girl at her wedding to her being my bridesmaid at mine, from the doll she gave me for Christmas when I was seven that I still have hanging on my bedroom wall to the many visits her, Martin and the boys made to our house in Harbour Main from Little Harbour every Christmas, Easter and summer while growing up. All the baked goods and jams she would bring with her, no one could match the care she put in to everything she did. Her talent had no end. Even though we lived far apart, our weekly calls kept our bond from breaking. I will miss those calls. Marg, my sister and best friend, I will treasure our lifetime of memories forever. You will be another guiding light for me and you will live on in my heart. Love and miss you loving sister...until we meet again.

Martin, Neal, Craig, Keith and families, Paul and I send our love and condolences on the loss of such a special person in your lives. We share your sorrow and wish we were closer. As I sit here this morning on our patio in Little Harbour memories are flooding my mind. I can smell the cooking and baking going on in her kitchen just down over the hill as she prepared so many wonderful meals for her family and guests. I can hear her calling Martin and the boys for dinner and stopping to have a quick chat with me from her patio. How I treasure those memories! I know you have many great memories that will help you get through these tough times and the days ahead.
Wish we could be there but rest assured that our thoughts are with you. Love to everyone, Paul and Daphne

Martin, Neal, Craig, Keith and families,
We are so very sorry for the loss of your precious wife, mother and grandmother. She was a special part of our family and a big part of my memories of Little Harbour growing up. She made some pretty yummy treats over the years! A couple of years ago she had me come down while she was going through her kitchen cupboards to give me some things that she would no longer be using. One cherished item was a copy of Marg’s kitchen recipe book! Another was a small pie baking pan that my grandmother Pardy gave to her which she used for making her small pies. A very special gift that I am so happy to have now.
How I wish more than anything that I could there with you today as you celebrate the life of Margaret. Sending you so much love and comfort today and every day as you navigate a new life without her. We will be looking forward to spending time with you all next summer. Love you all. Xoxo
