Obituary of Margaret Pardy

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret Mary Pardy passed away at Dr. Hemstock Assisted Living, Lloydminster, Alberta on July 18, 2024 at the age of 75 years.

Margaret is survived by: her loving husband, Martin Pardy; sons, Neal (Sheryl) Pardy, Craig (Maureen) Pardy and Keith (Sharlee) Pardy; grandchildren, Hayley, Dylan, Emma, Eve, Jaelyn, Hunter and Kenzie; 13 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Margaret was born in Harbour Main, NL and was the 2nd oldest of 14 kids. She learned early about caring for others and cooking while helping the family. She later went on to become a certified chef and worked at a seniors home in St. John’s until she met her husband Martin as he was attending Coast Guard college in St. John’s. Marg made the leap to leave the city and move to rural Newfoundland; Twillingate Island. Marg and Martin were married in 1973 and had their first of 3 boys, Neal, the following year. The twins, Craig and Keith came along 9 years later. Marg worked managing the house including her cooking. Eventually this led to the starting of Margs Kitchen and Beach Rock B&B where people would travel from all over the world to stay at their house and be fed home baked goods and fish meals. Marg was a board member for B&B Newfoundland and in 2000 received the “Pride Award” for outstanding bed and breakfast in Newfoundland. Both her and Martin were instrumental in promoting and building the tourism industry in Twillingate and in the province. When tourists slowed down in the winter, Marg then focused on Christmas bake sales and feeding all the family and friends that would visit. When all 3 kids ended up moving West to Alberta, Margaret and Martin left Newfoundland to follow family. They moved to Rainbow Lake first and then Edson to spend as much time with their 7 grandkids as possible. They made many driving trips across Canada, visited Nashville, Disneyland, and much of Western Canada. Health issues eventually led them to Lloydminster where they continued to spend as much time as possible with family. Martin and Margaret were married for 51 years and spent almost every day together. Margaret’s love for cooking, family, and friends was felt around the world and she will be greatly missed by many.
