To the Family of Mr. Frizzell
What a wonderful teacher!! Just loved my classes with him and loved his sense of humour, very dry lots of time!!
When I look back at Grade 11 and 12 Algebra and Trig classes in 1968-70, I can certainly relate to all the others tributes here as well.
I always was a math person and loved that there was no grey area in math...it was right or wrong period.
Still love math, still doing accounting for our business.
Thank you Mr. Frizzell. You were one of my favorites also!!
RIP
Pat Whiting Creech & Mac Creech (not really a math person but still enjoyed Mr. Frizzell)

Mr Frizzell was without a doubt a great teacher and even more-so a great person. I have fond memories of grade 11 and 12 physics in 80/82. His love of teaching inspired us to excel. Those classes certainly propelled me forward in life. Condolences to the Frizzell family.

I am grateful to be one of the many students who remember the inspirational teachings of Mr. Frizzell. His passion for the subject of Physics is imprinted in my mind with “Isn’t it WONDERFUL !” Emphasized by his yardstick bouncing off the floor! There were many excllent teachers at LCHS and Mr. Frizzell always stands out in my memories. Thank you.
My respect and condolences to his family.

Who would have thought of having a Physics pep rally to get his students "excited" for an upcoming physics test, but Mr. Frizzell?! Without a doubt, he ranks high on my list of great high school memories.

Seeing this news brought instant tears. We were blessed to have a lot of very good math and science teachers in Lloydminster all along the way. For those of us bound for math/science/technology careers it was an extra-special blessing to have Mr. Frizzell to cap off this strong foundation. It was very important to him that we didn't just memorize steps. He wanted us to have confidence that we were capable of understanding the concepts. And he wanted us to know that they were wonderful, amazing concepts! I remember him tracking the minute hand on the clock with a yardstick, "It's accelerating!" "Think! Think! The rest will come." With much gratitude for a very special teacher and sincere condolences to the Frizzell family. - Cindy (Funk) Snedden

My deepest condolences to the Frizzell family. May you find peace knowing how many lives Mr.Frizzell touched and may you find comfort in your special memories of life with him.
I am honoured to have been a student of Mr. Frizzell for grades 10-12. I’m not sure he was as thrilled as I was but he worked hard to ensure it was not necessary for me to repeat any of his classes. Mr. Frizzell’s class was the perfect mix of lesson structure and organization, clear and concise explanations and examples, and topped off with his dry sense of humour. When I became a teacher, I tried to model my approach to his.
Over the years, I would bump into Mr. Frizzell in Co-op where we would have a visit. I am thankful that during one of our chats, I took the opportunity to tell him what a positive impact he had on my life. He was very humble, thanked me, smiled and laughed that special laugh of his.
How lucky are we, his former students, to have been taught by such a wonderful man.

I enjoyed having Mr. Frizzell as a teacher even though physics and calculus were not my favourite subjects. He knew that and never gave up on helping me understand it. Years later when I returned to Lloydminster I bumped into him and asked if he remembered me. He said “YUP, Physics and Calculus 1975!” How on earth he could remember that!! HAHA. What a teacher!

Mr. Frizzell is fondly remembered by the Van der Loos family. He taught me, Todd at LCHS, and during his first teaching position, my parents Brenda and George at Battleford Collegiate. We all remember him as a great teacher, a patient teacher and a kind person!

I had Mr. Frizzell for Algebra in Grade 11 back in 87/88. After getting our marks back from a test he would allow us to rewrite the exam if our mark was too low. The condition was that we had to attend his extra classes he held at lunch time for that week. As someone who really struggled with math I really appreciated this. He was a fantastic teacher. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Frizzell was my trigonometry teacher. He always pushed each of his students to excell to the best of his or her ability. He was firm and kind. As a teacher myself, I often used some of my learning experiences with Mr. Frizzell in my own classes. Many will miss bumping into him in the community and sharing a quick hello.

I worked with Harvey at LCHS. He always greeted you with a hearty good morning.Students admired him. And then whenever we perchance met at a grocery store, there would always be a “hi” and how are you. He was a good, kind man. So sorry that he is gone. My deepest condolences to Harvey’s family.

Harvey was the best teacher I ever had. As a student in his class , he made sure every detail and subject content was covered. His meticulous and extremely neat board notes were admired by all. As a colleague of his in later years, he truly was a mentor. A great guy that was held in high esteem by all that knew him. RIP “Mr. Physics”.

My wife Brenda and I were some of his first students at Battleford Collegiate Institute. He was a thoroughly prepared teacher, who personalized his teaching so that each student was successful. I had an opportunity to re-aquaint with Harvey when I taught at Lakeland College. He was the same likable human being he had always been.

My condolences for your loss. Mr. Frizzell was one of my absolute favorite teachers. He taught me physics and calculus at LCHS. He was so awesome and just excited to help people learn. His passion for teaching was evident every class.I will always remember him drawing a circle on the blackboard and then erasing it and doing it again because it wasn't perfect. And all those experiments with the wave tanks to help us understand the wave principles of light still stick in my mind's eye to this day. And I also remember him saying to the students with all seriousness but with a bit of a smirk "You guys get high on grass, I get high on math." Such a wonderful person and true legend in the teaching world. Rest in peace Mr. Frizzell aka "Mr. Physics".
