Selma Leighton passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility in Lloydminster, Alberta at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her sons, Gordon (Shirley) and Doug (Nola), 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Selma was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Sr., all seven of her siblings, including 4 brothers and 3 sisters, her parents, Fred and Martha Flewell, and her daughter, Margaret Hamernyk. The service for Selma was held in the McCaw Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 24, 2009, with Rev. Bob Aldrich officiating. Irene Knowlson was the pianist and Nola Leighton gave the eulogy. Interment followed in the Kitscoty Cemetery. Card of Thanks: We wish to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. DuPlooy and the staffs of the Dr. Cooke, Pioneer Lodge and Home Care for the many years of loving care they provided for Selma. Also, many thanks to all who contacted us, who attended Selma's funeral, and who made charitable donations or sent flowers in her remembrance. Thank you as well to the Kitscoty Seniors' Center ladies for the lovely lunch following the service and to McCaws for their guidance and comfort. To everyone, your prayers and kind thoughts and deeds are greatly appreciated.
